A street car is visible in the background traveling along the avenue. Many commercial retailers are adjacent to Gratiot on the east side including, AL.G. Field, Greater Minstrels, Henry the Hatter; Brussy's Dyers and Cleaners; The Harvard Company; Cut-rate Drugs; and Owen and Company. On the west side of Gratiot, Sloan's Furniture and the Bray Pary Hotel. Written on the verso, "Gratiot between Library and Broadway, SE corner of Library and Gratiot, looking east."
