In the lower right area of the image, two groups of firemen are aiming three jets of water into the burning building and many fire hoses can be seen on the street pavement. In the lower left area of the photo, advertising signs for "Cut Rate Drugs" and "Madison [?]" can be seen on the side of the building. Handwriting on the verso shows "4 alarm, Ray Furniture Co., Feb. 25, 1940, Michigan and Livernois. One fireman killed."
