Sepia-toned photo of a fireman who is standing beside a speaking trumpet that is resting on a small table. The fireman is wearing his uniform which includes a long, double-breasted coat, decorative belt, and fireman's hat. The number, "1," is visible on his badge and belt buckle. In the collar area, his shirt appears to be hand-colored in purple. Handwriting on the verso notes, "W. Cooper, Capt. Ladder Co. No. 1; Time Book Record A-117; Died Sept. 2, 1884."
