Sepia-toned gelatin silver photo showing two men who are riding in a covered buggy that is being pulled by one horse. The men's faces are not visible. The curb and brick street pavement can be seen in the foreground and several brick buildings can be seen in the background. Business names that are visible include: Rothschild & Bro., Michigan Shoe company, and W. A. McGraw & Company. The address numbers, "81" and "83," are visible on the store awnings. Handwriting below the photo notes "77-83 E. Jefferson, 1897." A second photograph is glued to the verso. This sepia-toned photo shows an older woman, a younger woman, and two children who are seated indoors at a dining table. The photo is very overexposed so it is difficult to see details of their faces. The second photo was likely taken about the same time as the first one, c.1897.
