Caption reads: General Motors today inaugurated the world's largest automobile safety laboratory (above) at its Milford, Mich., Proving Grounds. The 120,000 sq. ft structure will house a staff of 120 persons and the most comprehensive array of auto safety research and development equipment ever assembled. Also inaugurated was a paved vehicle test driving area as large as 59 football fields. The Milford installation has served since its inception in 1924 as the headquarters for GM's automotive safety operations.
