Black and white photo of a whaleback freighter exiting the east end of the Poe Lock, part of the Soo Locks, and passing the St. Mary's Locks Administration Building, as photographed from the northeast. Following behind the whaleback in the foreground are another whaleback, and a Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company passenger steamer. In the distance several other vessels are visible still elevated within the lock. Three sailors are on deck on the near whaleback. Spectators watch the vessels from the platforms beside the locks. A handwritten note on the verso indicates that the image was used in the April 1993 issue of "Michigan Living."
