Black and white photo of the stern and starboard side of the Ore Navigation Company freighter VENUS taken as it passes east through the South Canal leading to the Soo Locks. Several crew members stand on board, while a man on the shore carries a line from the boat toward a bollard on the shore. "Sault Ste. Marie 1957," is handwritten on the verso, beside a stamp which reads, "Michigan Tourist Council Photo, Lansing, Michigan, No. 52G900."
