Black and white photo the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company railroad and automobile ferry CITY OF MIDLAND 41, during unloading at dock in Ludington. Two cars drive down a ramp extending from the boat's top deck to join several others below. The boat's bow is open, and railroad lines extend from it at the dock. A crowd of people are gathered in front of a small structure beside the cars. A fence along the railroad tracks extends into the foreground. "C + O's 'Drive-In' Ship, Ludington," is handwritten on the verso, along with a stamp which reads, "Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Co. Public Relations Department, Terminal Tower, Cleveland, Ohio. Stamped and handwritten markings on the verso indicate that the photo was used both on page 32 of the June 1956 issue as well as page 18 of the August 1961 issue of "Motor News."
