Black and white photo of construction occurring along West Jefferson Avenue, as viewed from the building on the southeast corner of Woodward Avenue and Jefferson, facing west. Holes have been dug into the concrete on the south side of Jefferson at regular intervals. Beside each hole is a pile of dirt held within a wooden frame. Cars, streetcars, and pedestrians continue to use the available lanes. Along the south side of Jefferson is a cigar store, a hotel, Fischers Home-Like Restaurant, Butler Brothers, and D.E. Kellogg Company Wholesale Millinery. The north side of Jefferson includes the Jefferson Hotel, the United News Company, the Hotel Norton, a pharmacy, the Standard Savings and Loan Building, the National Cash Register Company, J. Burrows, and Wisman and Sons Company Wholesale Jewelry and Novelties. "Looking West on Jefferson Ave. from Woodward Ave. 4:30 P.M." is typewritten on the verso.
