Black and white photo taken at night of Monroe Street, west from St. Antoine Street in Greektown. The Ambrosia Market, Hellas, the "Old" Parthenon, a grocery store, the Laikon Cafe, the International Restaurant, Olympic Electric Sign Service, the Athens Grocery and Bakery, and the Golden Fleece are on the north side of Monroe. Pedestrians, including a long line outside of Hellas, fill the sidewalks.
In addition to a handwritten note which reads, "Used Aug '78, Michigan Living -Mil," and a handwritten label which reads, "This photo was not taken by Jim Pujowski as bylined in magazine, a typewritten caption has been pasted to the verso:

Detroit's Greektown draws crowds of evening diners to the near-downtown ethnic enclave. Long a favorite of Detroiters, visitors to the Renaissance Center a few blocks south are discovering the joys of its Mediterranean food, continental bakeries and quaint shops. Here, diner-outers jam the sidewalk outside a favorite cafe, which is expanding into the corner grocery store.
