IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IN-LINE SIX IS FIFTH -- The 1979-model Mustang's powertrain lineup is expanded to five engines with the addition of an in-line 3.3 liter six-cylinder engine. The new engine option has a suggested retail price of $241--$32 less than Mustang's 2.8 liter V-6 engine. Mustang also offers a 2.3 liter four-cylinder engine, a turbo-charged 2.3-liter and a 5-liter (302-CID) V-8. According to M.R. Wood, Ford Division's marketing plans manager, "No car line in the sports specialty segment provides customers with greater flexibility in meeting their specific performance and fuel-economy needs."
