Black and white photographic print depicting a diorama titled "The City of Progress" as part of the "General Motors Parade of Progress". A sign reads "The welfare of the individual, throughout history, has depended upon his ability to transport himself and his goods quickly and economically from place to place." Signs within the diorama read "Modern transportation is promoting new types of building, new construction materials, employment for many trades, a new standard of living … from coast to coast between dawn and dusk."
Caption reads: "The City of Progress" one of the dioramas in the "General Motors Parade of Progress", contrasting with "Main Street in the '90s". Streamlined trains, model automobiles, trucks and buses and airplanes flit about on super level tracks and highways. The exhibit drives home the point that progress in transportation means a better life for every citizen.
