Black and white photographic print depicting 1940 Plymouth Roadkings at the end of the assembly line at the Lynch Road Plymouth Plant being inspected by several workers. To the left is a time clock and a sign reading "Clean up and keep clean, put your rubbish in cans".
Caption reads: Auto Workers Boost Xmas Trade. With all major auto factories in production on 1940 models, full pay envelopes of 400,000 automobile workers are an important stimulus to Christmas buying in Detroit and other production centers. Here's how it looks today at the final inspection line of the Plymouth factory in Detroit - biggest single assembly unit in the world. In this plant alone, 11,000 of the 56,000 busy Chrysler Corporation workers are employed in production of 1940 Plymouth cars - which means full Christmas stockings to additional thousands of workers in parts and supply plants, on farms, in mines and other raw materials industries throughout the country.
