The view looks aft along the main deck of the ship as seen from the pilothouse deck and shows the self-unloading conveyor boom swung out over the port side where it is unloading coal into a large pile on shore. The Detroit River is visible in the left background area and the 2-story Edison Boat Club building is visible just to the left of center in the background. The power plant building and smokestacks are partially visible through the conveyor boom trusswork in the right background area. The name of the freighter is not known.
