Hudson Company Department Store. The First National Building is visible in the right foreground; Campus Martius including the Bagley Memorial Fountain, automobile and street car traffic is visible in the central and left foregrounds, adjacent to the Detroit Opera House. Kern's Department Store, is visible on Woodward Avenue, located in front of Hudson's. Construction on the newest addition to Hudson's is visible in the left background; the existing structure is visible neighboring Kern's. The Majestic Building and Broderick Tower are also visible on the left side of the photograph. The photography studio and the geographic location are embossed on the recto, "Manning Bros., Detroit." Also, the photographic sequence number is printed on the bottom of the recto, "BETCOL - 4&5, 91187 ½."
