Print, Photographic

Black and white photo taken from an elevated position above Gratiot Avenue, likely while leaning out of a window on Hudson's south face, facing northeast toward Farmer Street. Hudson's is on the left edge of the photo, Ettlinger's is on the right, and the Partridge and Blackwell Building containing Crowley-Milner stands straight ahead. Lippetts Drug Store and the Greenfields Cafeteria are in the lower levels of Ettlinger's. The sidewalks are crowded with pedestrians. Two streetcars, several cars, and a few carts are among the traffic. The second floor windows of Crowley's are decorated with wreaths with stars hung in the center. "101005 1/2," and "M-1155," are printed in the lower left corner of the recto. "Crowley-Milner & Co. Dept. Store, Gratiot & Farmer Avenues, Downtown Detroit - 1929," is printed on a label affixed to the verso, along with two Manning Brothers stamps.
