Black and white photographic print of a diorama depicting the first automobile driven on the streets of Detroit, 1896; the diorama was displayed in window number 12 of The J.L. Hudson Company department Store. Signage in the right window foreground reads, "Detroit Historama, First Automobile on the Streets of Detroit in 1896; Detroit saw its first Automobile in 1896 when Charles B. King drive the new invention in her streets. Here we see Mr. King and his mechanic in his car at the corner of Grand River Avenue and Farmer Street. Hudson's Big Store can be seen at the next corner. The building was five years old at the time." Also, signage in the window's central foreground reads, "You are cordially invited to see 'Detroit Historama's display of many exhibits and merchandise of 250 years, July 23 through August 2, 12th Floor Auditorium, No Admission Charge." The date and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the recto, "7-25-51; 25246-12x."
