Black and white photographic print of a diorama depicting the dedication of City Hall, 1871; the diorama was displayed in window number 11 of The J.L. Hudson Company department store. Signage in the right window foreground reads, "Detroit Historama, Dedication of the City Hall. Our present City Hall was dedicated in 1871. Prior to that time the site had been used for the Michigan Central depot and several other buildings. The actual building of the City Hall was delayed until 1867 when the contracts were finally let. The old seat of Municipal Government was directly across Woodward Avenue and is seen to the left of the new building." Also, signage in the window's central foreground reads, "You are cordially invited to see 'Detroit Historama's display of many exhibits and merchandise of 250 years, July 23 through August 2, 12th Floor Auditorium, No Admission Charge."
