Black and white photographic print of the Collector's Corner Exhibit which features items and images of the Kresge & Wilson's 5¢ and 10¢ Store, displayed inside the Detroit Historical Museum, May - August 1967. Signage affixed to the exhibit board reads, "We're Collecting Too! Can YOU Help? One of their most exciting results of the Museum's current building program is the development of a new-old 'Street of Detroit' - this time representing the period from 1895 to 1905. Among the businesses that had their beginning in Detroit in this year was Kresge & Wilson's BIG 5¢ and 10¢ Store - illustrating a new, revolutionary concept of merchandising - the offering in one central location of thousands of useful and desirable items at the modest cost of 5¢ and 10¢. The Museum's research, in cooperation with the Kresge Company, tells us what the first store looked like. And we are leaning of the tremendous variety of merchandise that was offered for sale. To present an authentic reconstruction of Kresge Store No. 1 we are in need of more of the kinds of things that are shown in these cases. If YOU have similar items which are would like to offer the Museum for inclusion in our 'stock' won't you call us? Just as Kresge's today serves everybody, we hope everybody will share in this fascinating re-creation of a Detroit-born enterprise."
