Hastings North

Black and white photographic print taken as part of a survey of Hastings Street, shot facing north from the southwest corner of Hasting and Garfield Streets. Several pedestrians are shown walking along the sidewalk near the northwest corner, while a group of people are standing on the northeast corner. The Garfield Bar, Eaton's Furniture, Walker's Cleaners and Hattery, and the Gutman Brothers Five and Ten Cent Store are among the businesses visible on the east side of the street. Service Lunch is visible on the northwest corner. A JJ Bacon Rind Chips delivery truck is packed along the east side of the street.

A City of Detroit Department Report and Information Committee, Photographic Section form stamp is on the verso of the print. It lists the photographer as Art Greenway, the subject as "Hastings North," the date as March 19, 1959, and the image's number as G-18-4. "Hastings, looking N. from Garfield," is also handwritten on the verso.
