"Lincoln Park"

Black and white photographic print depicting the Council Point Park Monument in Lincoln Park. Image of a knife in a fringed sheath engraved on the plaque. Plaque reads: "Council Point Park, Near this spot, in April 1763, the great Ottawa chieftain, Pontiac, presided over one of the largest Indian councils ever held in the Great Lakes region. Thousands of Indians met here to plan an attack on Fort Detroit, as part of an ambitious plan to seize all of the English forts west of the Allegheny Mountains. Although the plan partially succeeded, Pontiac failed to take Detroit, and he died a few years later in the bitter knowledge that his people were doomed. Dedicated September 1956 by the Lincoln Park Historical Society" Houses are visible on street in the background. Beer can on the grass in the foreground.
