Our Son
Sepia-toned photo of the schooner OUR SON, under sail off the coast of Detour, Michigan, as taken from off its starboard quarter. A man stands at the wheel at its stern. "OUR SON OF MILWAUKEE" is painted across the transom. A tree-lined shore is visible in the background. The photo is mounted within a grey paperboard frame with "Bill Taylor Did It" embossed in the lower right corner. The photo and matte were previously housed within a wooden frame with a handwritten caption pasted underneath:
"OUR SON"
The last of her tribe. Lost on Lake Michigan September 26, 1930. Photograph taken off Detour on August 6, 1930 by Bill Taylor.
