This photo shows the painting with partially shaded windows on either side of the painting. The painting shows a three masted large sailing ship just right of center heading toward the viewer. The bottom sail on the forward mast is not open. A variety of other ships can be seen in the background , as well as land on the left side of the painting. The sky above is heavily clouded.
