The Great Republic Hotel Stove
Advertisement from the Detroit Stove Works promoting their "Great Republic" model hotel stoves. On the recto is an illustration, credited to William E. Earl of Detroit, of a Great Republic stove and text advertising that it is "for Wood or Coal" and that "The continued and increasing demand for the Great Republic has induced us to further improve this Stove: Making the Centres, Covers, and parts exposed to the fire, Heavier; Supporting the Centres and Mounting the Stove at greater expense; with Joints throughout fitted and cemented. The Oven Doors have Drop Handles and are lined with Tin Reflectors to retain the heat. Very large Hearth. Excellent arrangement and great Capacity for Broiling. The Oven bakes evenly in every part, and is very large, capable of baking 22 loaves of Bread at once, or 14 loaves of Bread and 5 Pies at the same time. N.B. - All our stoves are made from the best mixtures of Lake Superior Charcoal Iron - the best to stand fire."
