Special Bulletin to All Production Foundry Workers
Ford Foundry Union Bulletin. A Special Bulletin issued to all Production Foundry Workers by Shelton Tappes, the president of Ford Local 600's Production Foundry Unit of the United Auto Workers-Congress of Industrial Organizations on August 4, 1947, announcing that negotiations have halted with Ford, and that a strike is possible within the next 48 hours. It outlines the union's terms--a wage increase, union security, a pension plan, opposition to the Taft-Hartley Law, improved health and safety measures, and "premium pay for those who work in the death dealing foundries." Instructions of what to do if a strike is called follow.
