Promotional book for the J.L. Hudson Company. The title page of the book reads "The J.L. Hudson Company Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. The Store, The City, The People." The 52 page book contains stories "about the J.L. Hudson Company," as well as "the people and the city behind the store" (pg. 4). Each of the stories is printed in English, French, Italian, and German. The book features color drawings by René Bouché.

The book is enclosed in an envelope addressed to "Mr. Henry D. Brown, Director Detroit Historical Society." The inside cover of the book contains a typed note written to Henry Brown from Oscar Webber, President and General Manager of J.L. Hudson Company. The text of the note is as follows:

"This book, especially prepared by Hudson's, is being sent to hundreds of companies throughout the world from whom we import merchandise.

I thought you might enjoy having a copy, in view of Detroit's growing importance as a world port.
