Detroit - Poised for Action
One large presentation book entitled "Detroit - Poised for Action" which was "An Invitation from the Civic and Industrial Leaders of Detroit" to the International Olympic Committee to consider Detroit as the host city for the XIII Olympiad in 1944. The hardcover book has a glossy fabric/paper cover with gold-colored text on the front along with an image of a centaur. It contains 18 leaves of heavyweight tan paper that are printed with black text which gives an overview of the amenities, facilities, and highlights of Detroit and southeast Michigan. Several maps and many large black and white photographic images are included with the text. A foldout section gives some limited details of proposed improvements. A metal spiral binding holds the pages along the inside spine of the cover. The back page has a gold-colored embossed seal of the City of Detroit with a decorative blue ribbon and facsimile signatures of the Mayor, Richard W. Reading, as well as the members of the Common Council. The book was printed by the "Michigan Bookbinding Co., Detroit," and comes with a black cardboard box.
