Card, Trade

Trade card from the Detroit Stove Works advertising their "Michigan Base Burner" model stove. A lithograph on the recto, attributed to the Calvert Lithograph Company, depicts a maid in a parlor room waving a spoon in the air at two male children, one of which is eating at a side table and another that is trying to steal the food out of a "Michigan Base Burner" stove's oven. The slogan "The Only Practical Base Burner with Oven in the Market" is written in the bottom advertising section of the card. "Patented August 6 and October 8, 1872; In Canada, Jan. 12, 1873" is printed across the top of the card.
