Membership certificate, designed by the Calvert Lithographing Company, from the Michigan Soldiers' Monument Union, awarded to James Buhl by the Schools of Michigan in exchange for his donation of 10 cents toward the construction of the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument. The design includes a central image of two women, three uniformed soldiers, and a dog mourning around a flag-draped casket. Battlefield scenes decorate the corners of the borders.
