Spirit of Detroit Award

Certificate, "Spirit of Detroit Award," printed in red, yellow, and black on cream colored paper and mounted with corner holders in a blue folder. Issued by the City Council of the City of Detroit on October 5, 1976. A silhouette of the Spirit of Detroit with text reading "Now the Lord is that Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. / II Corinthians 3:17" is at top center. The text of the certificate reads "Spirit of Detroit Award / is presented herewith as an expression of the gratitude and esteem of the citizens of Detroit to / Solan Weeks / for substantial efforts in developing an awareness and appreciation of Detroit's Black heritage." The certificate is affixed with the gold seal of the City of Detroit and is signed by City Council members Carl Levin, Nicholas Hood, Ernest C. Browne Jr., Clyde Cleveland, David Eberhard, Erma Henderson, Jack Kelley, Maryann Mahaffey, and William Rogell.
