Straits of Mackinac,
From Presque Isle, Lake Huron to Charlevoix, Lake Michigan
One navigational chart entitled, "Straits of Mackinac, From Presque Isle, Lake Huron to Charlevoix, Lake Michigan," that was compiled and published as part of the Survey of the Northern and Northwestern Lakes (War Department, Corps of Engineers). The chart is a polyconic projection and is drawn at a scale of 1:120,000. It shows the Straits region including portions of Lakes Michigan and Huron as indicated in the chart title. Land areas are pale yellow and are shaded in various textures based upon the type of land use. River and lake areas are shown in white or pale green depending upon water depths which are given in feet and fathoms. Distances are given in statute miles. Lines of latitude and longitude are shown in black. Lighthouses and buoys are noted with small yellow circles.
