Check number 173 from the Banking House of A. Ives and Sons for the amount of $254.75 to the E. J. Smith Company, stamped October 12, 1875, and printed by the Calvert Lithographing Company. The center of the check is printed with a yellow 2 cent stamp from the United States Internal Revenue Service. An "X" has been punched through the center. The verso is signed, and stamped by the Third National Bank, and cashier R.H. Perkins, Jr.
