Officer's commission issued by Abraham Lincoln to Francis Martin, who was appointed as a Captain in the Revenue Service of the United States. The commission is printed in black, cursive script text on slightly yellowed parchment-like paper. The name "Abraham Lincoln" is printed in block lettering at the top. Beneath the block lettering is an engraved image depicting two sailing ships and an eagle in flight. At the bottom of the commission, the date of June 5th 1832, is shown along with Lincoln's signature, and the signature of the Secretary of the Treasury, Samuel P. Chase".
