My Chaldean-American father owned a store named Imperial Market on Linwood and Rochester in 1967 . I was five years old. That week, my dad slept at the store and would come home only to shower and visit us. He brought us chocolate covered cherries and to this day when I see them it brings back memories of happiness to know that he (and his store) were ok . I also remember the fear of the violent images shown on the news and [my] worry for him and his business. The market was featured on the cover of Life magazine as his customers put a sign on the front which read "Soul Brother ". He and the store were shown no harm during that very violent week and we were so grateful.
