MG: “Very little actually, Catholicism isn’t what it used to be. Younger people are finding their own way but it is something that keeps the older folks together. As people get older they go back home to their familiar territory.”
MS: Dr. York and cultural Catholicism positive negative?
MG: “I don’t know, depends on how the Catholic church sees itself in the future. Any organization is not perfect. The Church has been through a lot recently with the abuse scandals. As people are getting educated the Bible is great, but how does it fit in todays life? How do you console people who lost someone in a war?”
MS: Do you think we can use the church?
MG: “I hate to say it but no. The only think that keeps us together is that cross, the Maltese cross, it’s a cross of the knights and it’s a really high award but I don’t think it is anything more than that.”
