The Detroit Flag
One drawing entitled "The Detroit Flag." The drawing consists of black pencil on paper and shows a preliminary design for a proposed commemorative plaque that was presented to the Detroit Historical Museum by the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan in June, 1983. Text for the proposed plaque design indicates that "The Official Flag of the City of Detroit was Designed in 1907 by David Emil Heineman, President of the Detroit Common Council, Prominent Civic Leader and First Historiographer of Michigan Jewry." The drawing was prepared by James Conway in December, 1982, for the museum. (A separate sepia print, not included in the attached image, shows the flag design and was taped in the blank rectangle near the top of the sheet.)
