One copy of a drawing of the barquentine, "James F. Joy, 1866." This copy is a negative image that was traced from original drawing. Line work on this copy appears in white on a dark gray background. The copy shows a port side profile view of the three-masted sailing ship. A note in the upper left corner shows "Traced from the original sail plan of the barkentine [barquentine] 'James F. Joy' built at Detroit, foot of 12th Street, for Mr. George W. Bissel by Stewart McDonald in 1866. The ship was designed by Capt. Stephen Langston, and was 175 x 35 x 13 feet, and carried 1000 tons of cargo. She was the largest vessel on the Great Lakes when launched. Traced by Richard F. Joy, October 11, 1929."
