Jones Dinner (Master)

Digital video captured from a MiniDV tape containing raw footage of the Dinner and Writing Awards program held in conjunction with Edward P. Jones' appearance at Marygrove College as part of their Contemporary American Authors Lecture series. This event occurred on April 8, 2005.

The recording begins with Marygrove College president Dr. Glenda D. Price at the podium making introductory remarks. Next, Dr. Lillian Bauder--with Donald Bauder at her side--addresses the crowd, thanking Dr. Barbara Johns, IHM, and praising Edward P. Jones. Dr. Price then return to the podium to introduce Mattie Seabrooks. Seabrooks then speaks about the growth of the program and thanking those who make it possible. Dr. Price next introduces Dr. Frank Rashid who then presents the McCombs-Currier Writing Awards. Afterward, Dr. Price invites Edward P. Jones to make some brief remarks ahead of his reading later that evening. The camera fades out as Dr. Price returns and makes some closing announcements.
