Digital video taken from a MiniDV tape containing raw footage of the Edwidge Danticat's presentation for Marygrove College's Annual Bauder Contemporary American Authors Lecture held on April 12, 2002.

The recording opens with a performance by a jazz trio. Dr. Frank Rashid hosts the event. Dr. Glenda Price speaks next about the program. Dr. Rashid then provides an introduction to Edwidge Danticat.

Edwidge Danticat then reads a series of writings, providing background information between each. She reads, "Women Like Us," "New York Day Women," "Caroline's Wedding," and two excerpts from "The Farming of Bones."

After her reading, Dr. Rashid provides some brief closing words as the recording from the event ends.

The remainder of the tape contains a series of brief clips of two unidentified people gardening in a backyard, a sunset over downtown, fans, and an image of a woman in a window.
