Digital video taken from a MiniDV tape containing raw footage of the conclusion of Edwidge Danticat's masterclass presentation, followed by the dinner reception and awards ceremony both at held on April 12, 2002 in conjunction with Marygrove College's Annual Bauder Contemporary American Authors Lecture. The masterclass footage is continued from MG-2022.501.018.

The recording resumes with Edwidge Danticat discussing the collaborative writing exercise. Several students then read their pieces.

Dr. Frank Rashid then returns to the podium. He introduces Denise Davis who presents a gift to Danticat.

The footage from the dinner and awards ceremony follows. The event is hosted by Dr. Glenda Price. She introduces Dr. Karen Davis, who in turn introduces a performance by master drummer Geraud Dimanche. Dr. Price then thanks the program's supporters as the camera operator adjusts the microphone. Lillian Bauder, then S. Martin Taylor speak next. Dr. Frank Rashid then presents awards to the winners of the McCombs-Currier Writing Awards. The recording fades out after the award ceremony, then resumes with Dr. Price introducing Edwidge Danticat, who briefly addresses the crowd ahead of her reading later that evening.
