Digital video taken from a MiniDV tape containing raw footage the 16th Annual Bauder Contemporary American Authors Lecture by Pearl Cleage, at Marygrove College on April 16, 2004.
The program is hosted by Dr. Frank Rashid, the Chair of English and Modern Languages. Following a performance by the jazz trio, Teddy Harris Jr. and New Breed Be Bop Society, Dr. Glenda Price then provides some introductory remarks about the program, and Rashid introduces Cleage.
In her presentation, Cleage reads an essay that addresses her childhood, being a writer, 9-11, war, patriarchy, and caring for children.
Rashid then returns to the podium for closing remarks as the recording fades out.
