Color 16mm film of the dedication of the Detroit Historical Museum's Kresge Exhibit Hall on July 24, 1968. The footage includes excerpts from speeches by Detroit Historical Museum Director Henry Brown, Mayor Jerome P. Cavanagh, and Stanley S. Kresge of the Kresge Foundation, as well as the unveiling of the new addition's plaque.
The film begins with Henry Brown discussion the city's 267th birthday. He also mentions that threat of rain has kept the festivities inside. In introducing Mayor Cavanagh, Brown jokes how Cavanagh previously worked as a guide at Greenfield Village.
Cavanagh then takes to the podium where he recognize noted people in the audience, reminisces about the groundbreaking for the expansion in 1966, notes the generosity of the Kresge Foundation, and discusses future plans for the expansion of the museum.
The film then suddenly cuts to Stanley S. Kresge's address to the crowd. He recognizes other members of the Kresge Foundation in attendance, and discusses his family's ties to Detroit.
After another cut, Kresge, Cavanagh, Detroit Historical Commission President Leonard N. Simons, and Gordon Olson pull a rope to draw back a pair of golden curtains, unveiling Kresge Exhibit Hall's dedication plaque. The film ends with a shot of the plaque.
