Film, Motion Picture

Black and white 16mm film of a group of antique cars, including a reproduction of Charles Brady King's 1896 automobile taking part in a parade on Jefferson Avenue and Woodward Avenue--likely the 1956 parade celebrating the 60th anniversary of the automobile in Detroit. The film's soundtrack is composed of engine noises and march music.

The footage begins on Jefferson Avenue at Brush Street, facing northeast. The reconstruction of King's car is being towed as other early automobile drive along side and behind it. There are several other shots of the cars on Jefferson further to the west, near Randolph Street and Woodward Avenue. The City-County Building stands in the background during some of these shots.

The recording then picks up with the cars heading south on Woodward Avenue shot from between Park Avenue and Clifford Street. Then, with the King car in frame again, from south of State Street, down past the Majestic Building and into Campus Martius, where the film ends.

The film is on a 3.625" grey plastic Kodak reel.
