Silent 8mm film containing footage shot in and around Detroit, including footage of Belle Isle, the Detroit River, Henry Ford Museum, the Detroit Zoo, White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, several houses of worship along Woodward Avenue, the New Center area, Black Bottom, and downtown.
The reel opens with brief shots of an aerial view of a river, and of fields in an unknown location, followed by several scenes of Belle Isle. These shots feature the MacArthur Bridge, and people on the beaches, the reflecting pool in front of the James Scott Memorial Fountain, canoes on Belle Isle's canals, the Nancy Brown Peace Carillon, boats on the Detroit River (including a National Steel Corporation freighter), cars on the roads through the woods, the tennis courts, the apartment buildings along Detroit's Gold Coast viewed from the island, swimmers in a pool, the grounds of the Belle Isle Conservatory, and the north side of the island, as viewed from the mainland.
The next section begins with two shots of an older man and woman walking in a residential neighborhood. This is followed by a pan across the exterior of the Hudson Motor Car Company Administration and Main Office Building on Jefferson Avenue, then a pan across the Ambassador Bridge from the road below.
The camera pans along the exteriors of the Dearborn Inn, Henry Ford Museum, and the Ford Motor Company Engineering Laboratory Building, and David Mackenzie High School in the next set of shots
Several scenes shot at the Detroit Zoo occur next. The camera pans along one of the original pre-1949 miniature railroad trains at a stop, the bear and polar bear habitats, a flock of birds, a rock formation presumably in the aoudad habitat, the Rhesus monkeys on the monkey island, a floral display, Baboon Rock, a man riding an elephant, the Horace H. Rackham Memorial Fountain, one of the miniature railroad trains in motion, and the archways at the zoo's entrance.
Following a dim shot of what appears to be the interior of a vehicle, several planes are shown at Detroit City Airport. The camera then pans from the hangers back to the airfield.
Next, the camera moves to White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, for pans across the gate, the Temple of Memories Mausoleum behind Mirror Lake, and the grounds to the north from across Mirror Lake.
The next set of shots feature the Shrine of the Little Flower at 12 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak. Here the camera pans across the garden area containing the statue of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, as well as a pair of pans showing the exterior of the church.
In the next shot, the camera has moved further south along Woodward Avenue for a pan across the exterior of the Highland Park Ford Plant.
The two following shots taken place even further south along Woodward, and consist of pans across the exteriors of both Temple Beth-El at Gladstone Avenue, and the Metropolitan United Methodist Church at Chandler Street.
The film maker then moves to the New Center area for a pan across the exterior of Henry Ford Hospital, a pan up the Grand Boulevard face of the Fisher Building, and a shot of traffic on Grand Boulevard with the Cadillac Building standing in the background.
In the following shot, the camera pans across the Woodward Avenue face of the Main Branch of the Detroit Public then continues on to the Maccabees Building. Following a separate shot of the Maccabees Building, the camera pans across the exterior of the Cass Avenue face of Old Main.
Next, from a spot to the southwest, the camera pans around the exterior of Masonic Temple, before turning around to show people enjoying Cass Park.
The camera then moves downtown to Grand Circus Park, where it pans from the busy sidewalk, up the side of the David Broderick Tower. Then from the north corner of East Adams Avenue, and Woodward Avenue, the camera pans around, showing the Hotel Tuller, Grand Circus Park, and traffic on Woodward Avenue. For the next shot, the camera is repositioned for a shot southwest across Grand Circus Park with the Statler Hotel in the background, and traffic (including a streetcar) passing the Hazen S. Pingree Monument in the foreground.
Next, from the south corner of West Larned Street and Griswold Street, the camera pans up the side of the Union Guardian Building. Following a cut, footage resumes of the Guardian Building, but now from an adjacent roof--likely that of the Penobscot Building. From the vantage point, the camera pans from the Union Guardian Building, southwest along the Detroit River. Following another cut, the camera is next adjacent to the river for a shot of a passing small motor boat, and for an approaching passenger steamer.
The next segment of the film features scenes in or near Grosse Pointe; it begins with shots of Grosse Pointe South High School followed by a shot of the adjacent Christ Church Chapel, several scenes follow of residential areas, also presumably in Grosse Pointe.
A quick shot follows from the corner of Russell Street and Winder Street of Eastern Market's Shed 2.
The camera then moves to an intersection in the area of the Brewster Homes. The camera pans from a row of two-story buildings, across the street to a taller apartment building.
The camera then moves to a spot along Hastings Street in Black Bottom, likely to a point on the east side of Hastings between Division Street and Alfred Street. The camera pans from the opposite side of the street where a sign over a storefront promotes the political campaign of Louis R. Taylor (of the United Tenants Association, which maintained an office at 2731 Hastings), around to peer further down the street. A car painted with "Elect Joseph A. Smith, Sheriff, Democrat" is parked in front of the camera operator. A sign for a bar and a partially visible sign that reads "Public" are posted along this side of the street. Streetcar rails run along the center of the street.
The next shot occurs near the intersection of Brush Street, and Alexandrine, facing southwest toward Harper Hospital.
The final portion of the film features several locations near downtown. First the camera captures the Fox Theater marquee with "When the Daltons Rode" and "The Man I Married" (both 1940 releases) posted. Next, the camera pans around the east side of Washington Boulevard, south from Clifford Street. The Robinson Furniture Company sign is in view. Then, a southward pan around Brush Street, south of Mechanic Street occurs. The signs of the Detroit Woolen Company and Crowley's are visible here. The final shot features a woman in a downtown parking lot.
The film is housed on a metal reel within a gold-painted metal canister.
