D.H.S. Guild Movies 1958

Silent 8mm color film containing four segments shot at Detroit Historical Society Guild events.

The film opens with a sequence presumably shot during Old Timers' Day at the Jerome H. Remick Music Shell on Belle Isle. A group of four women dance in turn of the century swimwear on the stage with the band playing behind them and an arrangement of flowers along the edge of the side of the stage in the foreground. After a cut, woman line up along the stage in white gowns. with ribbons around their waists, wearing hats, and holding parasols. Then two men tie a large bundle balloons to the stage, some of the event's attendees are shown, and couples in historic costume dance on stage.

The next segment captures a dinner function in a large room with paintings on its walls and shuffleboard scoring zones among the tiles of its floor. The attendees are in formal attire, and Henry D. Brown is among them. Near the end of the segment, a projection screen and a projector are set up for a slide show.

The third segment entails several shots of a backyard get-together of a group of women.

The forth segment is a recording of fashion show of historical women's wear, including dresses, bloomers, swimwear, and coats. The event is held within a hall with white walls, columns along the walls, and large windows.
