Out of the Future
Black and white 16mm film containing the Studebaker-Packard Corporation promotional film "Out of the Future" produced by A.J. Henderson Associates, Incorporated. The film concerns Packard's Torsion-Level Ride suspension system which uses torsion bar springs in place of coil or leaf springs on its 1955 cars.
The film's host talks about the technology from an office set, and provides narration over demonstrations of the design. In some point-of-view shots from within the car, a "Ride-Meter" is shown to illustrate how smooth the suspension is.
The film is on a metal reel mislabeled in pen an pencil as "Terra plane Races 1933," and "Baldwin 37/38." The reel is housed within a brown metal canister with a Frank Johnson Service address label, and a strip of tape marked "Packard [...] Ro[...]" on its lid.
