Plbg. Bur. Office 1
Silent black and white 16mm film containing an assortment of shots relating to the City of Detroit Department of Building and Safety Engineering Bureau of Plumbing film "A Visit to Detroit's Bureau of Plumbing Inspection" (2015.007.065).
The film begins with a shot of the Bureau of Plumbing Inspection sign on the frosted window of a door, followed by "Dept. of Bldg & Safety Engineering" and "L Glen Shields, Chief. Bureau of Plumbing," on a magnetic title card. Next is a close-up of part of a sample Department of Public Works Application for Sewer Permit (as shown in full in film 2015.007.065). Then the camera pans around the bureau's busy office.
The next two shots relate to the "Field Sewer" scene in the main film. A hand is filmed holding a document over a trench with piping laid at its bottom, and then a Merucci Brothers steam shovel is shown on the site.
The camera then shoots two more title cards, "Bureau of Plumbing" and "City of Detroit," followed by more shots of the office.
The film ends with a series of shots of forms including a Department of Buildings and Safety Engineering form, a Bureau of Plumbing inspection report form, another inspection report, and an inspector's daily route report.
The film is on a small metal reel labeled "Plbg. Bur. Office 1." The reel is housed, along with reels 2015.007.064 and 2015.007.066, within a latching metal mailing container. Several mailing labels are on the case, but the only legible one is from Dearborn Public Schools, and lists the City of Detroit Department of Buildings and Safety Engineering, in the 4th Floor of the City-County Building as the recipient.
