Letter
Typed two page personal letter from Arthur S. Hampton to Mr. O. D. Knabenshue about a medical leave and treatment recently undergone by Mr. Knabenshue, typewritten on Detroit Historical Society letterhead, dated May 13, 1936. Hampton also lists several objects recently obtained by the museum, including, "a small leather trunk of 1825. a U.S. geography of 1807, an arithmetic of 1835, an 1800 woolen coverlet, a framed 1778 document. a unique flatiron holder... a stylograph copybook... stylograph pens... a miniature flatiron (now I hope to iron
out all my troubles), steelyards (with which to weigh my words in this epistle), a teapot (when I get in a stew) and a coffee pot (to get a copper when I need some change)... a copy of the Ulster Co. Gazette, so that I could refresh my memory of the death of Washington...a map of Michigan and vicinity of 1766-67, showing the range of territory occupied by the various Indian tribes.... an original photo of the Steamer Arrow,
which in 1854 ran between Detroit and Monroe and Toledo."
