Letter

Two page handwritten letter on Plaza Hotel stationery sent to Anna Wilson by her sister who has accompanied Anna's daughter Margaret Wilson to the Plaza Hotel in New York City for treatment for her bad knee. The letter details Margaret's delight at a pair of gloves that her aunt bought for her. The letter reads:

New York, Thursday 189_

My Dear Sister,
At last I have M. in bed but not asleep and I know [?]. She is saying "Say o Lonnie [?] to Bessie Brooks tomorrow will be Monday," and "[?] the papers [?]" & Simple Simon sat on a wall Simple Simon had a great fall" I got her mister [?] illustrated by Kate Greenaway and she is learning them all after a fashion. But now she is [?] I hope to [?] I would [?] put her & bed [?] when I was putting her to bed the [?] & she is very late getting to sleep but it is nice [?] She can sleep later in the morning.

We both had a very pleasant day. Had our breakfast early and started down [?] about nine and [?] was a fire burning. I was looking for silk for a waist & [?]. And M. was [?] good. She [?] shopping [?] I bought her a pair of cute little brown kid gloves. There buttons too[?] cute for my [?] and I wish that could have seen the performance today. She was perfectly wild at the idea of having gloves. It pleased the shop girls very much to hear her go on.

I got them at Lord and Taylor & had them fitted and they are so pretty, matching the fur trimming in her coat. She could hardly take them off to eat her dinner and I think every body who has seen her today surely has realized she has new gloves. She made the people in the car laugh by holding up her hand & looking at them. She "wonders what Anna [?] will say. Guess she will will[?] think she is a big girl to have gloves"

I wouldn't' have missed the fun for twice the price of the gloves. And it is so much easier to hold on to her hand the mittens would come off and I could not seem to get a good hold of her hand.
Well I have written a letter about the gloves but it has been a good event. My wish that [?] here shared the fun. We went to Mrs. Wright's this P.M. to [?] my [?]. It is [?] convenient [?] to go on at 8th Ave. & transfer. Mrs. Wright [?]. Percy has written that he will be here tomorrow afternoon [?] we shall have to stay in Mrs. Wright [?]. "Why M. sleeps ten thousand times better then when she was there in the summer." [?] but everybody says the [?] is [?].

Rec'd Jim's letter with the check enclosed [?].

Yes M. did go to sleep.
