Letter

Half-folded leaf containing a portion of a handwritten letter sent to Anna Wilson by her sister who has accompanied Anna's daughter Margaret Wilson to the Plaza Hotel in New York City for treatment for her bad knee. In the letter the sister reports on Margaret's condition and of their trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The portion reads:

Plaza Oct 10th

My Dear Sister,
Just received a letter from Anna P. one one[?] for M. from this [?] this [?] & card for she is playing [?] to do this work & I [?]. She is fitting[?] here by one pressing[?] [?] and I told her she would have to do it the best she could but she is learning[?] hard work.
Well we have [?] at [?] for lunch I took M. [?] & left her which I [?] is Mrs. Wright. The first time I had [?] away [?] & when I got back she was crying for me. Had just commenced they said. So I came just in time and she wanted to come home right after lunch and has been as happy as could be ever since. [?] her [?] a plaything. I think she would always be happy if I would just[?] and let her play & help her [?] her things.

They all thought M. looked well and the [?] look well & [?] & sleep well, only her knee is a little stiff. I said [?] to the doctor, "[?]" and he said [?] she is going to be all right. And he won't have to [?] her every day for very long but [?] he thinks best [?]. He says her blood is in such good condition after her good summer and she has a good [?]. Her knee seems much [?] than yesterday. Yesterday morning I got up at 6:30, gave M. her bath, dressed her [?] heated her [?] and gave it to her [?] slippers [?] cooked eggs for M. & my self there only [?] M. [?] washed my dishes & got dressed & went [?] to put on her bandage & [?] and then we [?] through the same performance again [?] I did [?] get up til seven [?] to fly [?] by nine o'clock. Well it was a beautiful morning so we took a park wagon & drove around & got off at the museum of art & [?] there quite a while. M. was delighted with [?] especially when they have models of things [?] large [?] & the people who were copying. She asked them numerous questions and [?]. Anna, I think I will bring my paints some day & copy some of the pictures & frame some up nice, [?]. There was a painting of four kittens & [?] she was so [?] interested in. She said "I must have been hard work to make those kitteys." Then in the P.M. we went out & got some provisions & got our supper [?] I [?] this when I get M. in bed I am just tired.
[?] I can write any [?] for the [?] buy wanting [?] her [?] but she looks so cunning[?]. She says [?] her dolls name is [?] other things. [?] this morning [?]. She said "thee if you want to."
Now I [?] Mrs. Wright & she said she could make thee a handsome suit lined with silk & [?] with [?] for [?] sixty dollars. This is [?] each other enough goods for a coat if thee wanted it. She says she could make it & send to thee. [?] is my choice. I think that [?] silk linings must make a lovely dress. I enclose a sample of [?] which I have ordered for a suit for my self [?] black braid. Hope thee will like it. She is giving [?] after my sleeves & is coming up here Tuesday evening.
